Welcome to The Stables, heritage accommodation serenely nestled in its picket fenced garden, seemingly a world away from the main street of Gulgong just outside the garden gate, and the Mudgee wine district that begins almost at the edge of town.  Here you can withdraw from city stress and indulge in country peace.

Gulgong, the prosperous gold rush town so proudly depicted on Australia's original $10 note, has been lovingly preserved, encouraging visitors to wander back in time and absorb the atmosphere of an era so dramatic in Australia's colonial past.

Your heritage accommodation, The Stables, built in 1885 as a gentleman's residence has now been authentically renovated and tastefully decorated to provide three double bedrooms in the main house.  Attached to the main house is the Garden View Suite, with private entrance.  The suite offers luxury, elegance and includes queen size bed with handmade damask sheets, spacious ensuite, spa, television and CD player.

The lounge offers a cosy open fire for those cold winter nights and is the ideal place to spend a lazy afternoon with a novel or for an after dinner port or two.

A refreshing swim in the pool, a soak in the spa, or relaxing in the sauna, are easily justified pleasures after a day of sightseeing in Gulgong, or visiting the many wineries in the Mudgee-Gulgong area. Perhaps you'd like a game of golf? Gulgong Golf Club is a stone's throw from The Stables Guesthouse.

Similarly, little persuasion is needed to enjoy a stroll through the surrounding gardens, proudly boasting trees that are over 100 years old... and with the remnants of a bygone era so fortunately preserved; these gardens easily allow your imagination to drift back to those days when the world moved at a more comfortable pace.

Bed and Breakfast, approached with the luxury of time at hand, takes on a whole new dimension at The Stables.

Breakfast times are arranged with the guests to suit either the late starters who find The Stables' beds just too comfortable to leave, or those who plan early sightseeing or wine tasting forays. Your choice of breakfast is available from the continental style of freshly squeezed juices, coffee, homemade maple cream, almond butter and local jams.  Providing a great compliment to your flakey baked croissant and freshly prepared fruit salad.  Add to this a traditional hearty breakfast of bacon, sausages, mushrooms, fried tomatoes and a poached free range eggs - it makes waking up a pleasure.
