Engine Specs: Engine is a now a Nissan CA18 DET with intercooler.  Motor has had complete rebuild  as I wanted more power and reliability. The head  has received a nice big port job to allow more flow. I spent a full day match porting the manifolds letting it breath. Valves have been reseated . I have fitted 80thou copper head gasket to lower compression ratio to stop detonation at higher boost. I have gone the whole hog on bottom end giving it new APEP (Aries) 40thou oversize forged pistons these where very expensive but will handle the hard life I expect to give engine running upto 20psi.
     I run it on pump super & 15psi around town as it has high octane compared to unleaded. On track I run upto 20psi & Optimax as it has higher octane again  to stop detonation.
     The gearbox is a  skyline stumpy 5 speed  with CA18 bellhousing with custom made tailshaft. The computer is a Microtech MT8  it works great even gets over 30mpg on highway great options and was easy to wire up and also operate . Now I have had it on dyno it is really smooth, power starts from 2800 and pulls hard all the way to 8000 rev limit.
     Differential is out of a Mitsubishi scorpion huge axles and disc brakes too. I use two different ratios I race with 4.6:1 L300van center and for road duties and speed events  I use 3.3:1 I found with 4.6:1 center I ran out of revs to quick. With 3.3:1 datsun clocked just on 220kmh down conrod at super sprint. I have reached 200kmh  with old A14 motor revving to 7500 in 5th with 4.6:1 .
     Brakes are very important for a quick car that's why I have huge brakes that stop extremely well. Front are 10"vented with hilux 4spot calipers rear are 9"solid with standard mitsubishi calipers. I have dot 5.1 synthetic fluid with competition pads.
       Suspension is Pedders race John Taylor at Stmary's Pedders set it up for me was reasonably cheap and works very well front is 2.5" lowered 275lbs  3" King Springs on imported stanza struts with adjustable height platforms running custom inserts. I still run a standard swaybar but I run a strut tower brace to stiffen the front a bit. Rear has reverse eye springs 3" lowered with pedders sports gas shocks, no sway bar on rear.
 Modifications:   I have  just fitted a 400hp Gt25 roller bearing turbo as the 300hp GT25 was just not quite enough :) Running 15psi with GT25 turbo it made 225hp at rear wheels. This equates to 300hp at flywheel. With new turbo running 18psi it should make around 250-260hp at rears wheels around 340-350hp at flywheel.
             I have just done some more mods to the datsun with excellent results :-) I had a set of adjustable cam gears made bye Steve Newwing at Speed Technology in Victoria. They made a noticeable difference mid range to top end power. He set them up for me to the same spec as a GTR they had on dyno it made a 18kw gain at rear wheels just with this mod !! I have not had a chance to have it dynoed as yet but will soon.
       I am in the process of making a set of mandrel bent thick wall tuned length turbo extractors. I can now see why they charge an arm and leg to get a set made as I have spent like 15hrs making them so far and they are only half done. Have also made a new full exhaust system as the 3" straight out the side was a little on the loud side especially on long trips. It now has a single 3" resonator into a 3" S type muffler then reduced into 2.5" mandrel bends over the diff and a 3" dump pipe with large chrome tip. I was expecting a small power loss but was supprised to find it has heaps more midrange low end power even when running 12 psi it black tracks up the road in 3rd gear :) boost seems to come on quicker and harder and is very quite. It will be interesting to see how much extra it has Im hoping for aprox 250+hp at rear wheels or 340+ hp at flywheel.
